The DeWald lab studies the cellular roles of a small family of lipids called phosphoinositides.  Phosphoinositides (e.g. PtdIns(4,5)P2) are regulators of several different  cellular processes or activities including: cytoskeletal changes, protein trafficking, and intracellular signal transduction.  Therefore, phosphoinositides have important roles in cells during normal and pathological (e.g. cancer) cell growth.
