The White Lab

“Just as houses are made of stone, so is science made of facts; but a pile of stones is not a house, and a collection of facts is not necessarily science.” - J.H. Poincaré

Lab News

Welcome to the White Lab

Our lab is jointly located in the Department of Biology and the Ecology Center at Utah State University. We are also affiliated with the USU Community Dynamics Group.

Research Focus

Research in the lab is diverse, but our central focus is the use of macroecological approaches, combining theory with empirical analysis, to address questions about emergent spatiotemporal patterns of species diversity, body size, and abundance, as well as the processes that drive them. We also have active research projects in community ecology, sensor networks and ecological theory. Most of our work involves the extensive use of tools from eco-informatics and quantitative ecology.
