Clubs
There are three health professions clubs on campus. Prehealth students should consider becoming involved in one or more of these clubs. The advisor for these clubs as well as membership applications can be found in the Biology Advising Center, BNR 101, 435-797-2577.
Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED)
Alpha Epsilon Delta is a national health pre-professional honor society dedicated to the encouragement and recognition of excellence in pre-professional scholarship, including medicine, dentistry, optometry and others. The Society welcomes all students engaged in the pursuit of a professional healthcare career. AED offers opportunities for intellectual and professional development, provides a forum for students with common interests, and extends a program of service to benefit the university community. AED is affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. For more information about the AED club, please visit the website here. If you have questions about the club, contact Sherry Baker, President of Utah Alpha Chapter, at sherbake@cc.usu.edu.
The Dental Club
The goal of the Dental Club is to help prepare pre-dental students to take the DAT, apply for schools, and help to inform them of everything that is expected of them by the dental schools. The club provides group study sessions with practice DAT tests, service projects, leadership opportunities, help with locating dentists to shadow, and social activities. They maintain a library of pertinent informational material in BNR 101 available for members to borrow. For more information about the club please visit the website www.usudental.com. If you have questions about the club, contact Clayton Cook, President of The Dental Club, at claykcook@cc.usu.edu.
Women in Medicine (WIM)
The goal of WIM is to provide support and mentoring for women pursuing a career in the health professions. The club offers a mentoring program, service, and leadership opportunities for all members. WIM invites women professionals such as doctors and nurse practitioners to speak to members about what it takes to be successful in the field. This is a great opportunity for members to ask questions about the road ahead. Being an active member of WIM is a great resume builder. Join us and make the club even stronger! For now if you have questions about the club, contact Ashley Cowley, President of WIM, at ashleyac@cc.usu.edu.
Pre-Pharmacy Club
The goal of the pre-pharmacy club is to help prepare and provide support for students planning on doing graduate work in pharmacy. For more information or any questions please contact Hannah Spinner, President of the Pre-pharmacy club, at hspinner@aggiemail.usu.edu.
