Prehealth Information

This webpage is one way of providing you with important information for the Prehealth Professions Program. However, the information that follows does not contain everything you need for preparation to enter health professions schools.

You should also visit with Yvonne Kobe (Academic Advisor) or Judy Schalow (Advising Coordinator) and use the resources and/or referrals they can provide. Yvonne and Judy maintain regular office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) and are available to meet with you in the Biology Advising Office located in the Biology & Natural Resources Building (BNR), room 101. Judy handles the logistics of the committee and application process. Yvonne can answer your questions about appropriate coursework and undergraduate research opportunities. You can drop by the office or call 797-3203 to make an appointment. You can also email Yvonne with your questions. Experienced undergraduate Peer Advisers are also available in BNR 101 from 8:30am-3:30pm to answer general questions.

Additional information will appear from time to time in the Utah State University Statesman and via e-mail. Look for the "medical staff" symbol for most of the Statesman announcements. Regular prehealth professions group meetings are held throughout the year, often sponsored by one of the prehealth professions student organizations: Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED), Women in Medicine (WIM), and the Dental Club.

Throughout the year important prehealth professions information will be sent to your university e-mail account. If you don't have an account, you can activate an account in any of the computer labs. Please visit http://lists.usu.edu/mailman/listinfo/prehealth_list to subscribe.

Information will also be mailed to you periodically during the school year. It is your responsibility to maintain a current local address and telephone number at the USU Records Office located in the Taggart Student Center.
