Our lab studies the interactions among natural enemies, insect herbivores, and plants in managed ecosystems. We work at the interface of basic and applied research, testing and using ecological theory within the framework of insect pest management. The goal of our research is to find solutions to insect problems that are economically and environmentally sound to enhance ecologically-based pest management. Using a combination of field, greenhouse, and laboratory studies we examine plant-insect and predator-prey interactions, population and community ecology, insect behavior, and ways to enhance biological control among other concepts important to herbivore suppression.
